Don't blame me if you don't vote!

YOU MUST VOTE IN THIS ELECTION!

I was talking with an extremely angry man the other day.  He is about my age and remembers patriotism, love for God and a calmer, kinder, hopeful "Andy Griffith" way of life.  He was ranting and raving about the condition of this country and how if we don't turn this around that we are going to h-e-double toothpicks in a hurry!

I smiled and asked one simple question, "So....who are you voting for?"  I was stunned at the reply.

"I don't vote.  It's a waste of time.  They are all crooks...blaugh, bla bla...."

Again I smiled politely and in the softest tone of voice possible I said, "I'm so sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately though, that makes you part of the problem.  If you honestly understood our political system you could see that while we may not pick the absolute best person this time....if we continue to make a statement with our vote and we continue to encourage (with our vote) for politicians to be better and better....eventually we will make a difference.  It may take time and patience but it will work.  The biggest problem we have is when we do nothing.  That opens the doors for evil to sneak in and take over.

Apathy is the train that brought us to this place.  Activism is the plane that will eventually set us free."

He grumbled something and our conversation was over.

Today I beg you to be part of the process.  Contact your newspaper or go on line and read the views of each candidate.  Make a list of who you want to vote for.  Make a date with family or friends to ride together and vote.  Go out to breakfast before or after and discuss your views.

Liberals want to fuss about the wars we fight.  Historians use hindsight to second guess the political views on any particular war.  They research and dig to find negatives and problems.  The bottom line however is that men go to war to preserve one thing....Our freedom to Vote.  When you cry over the precious young men who have lost their life in a war - remember that it was to preserve your right to vote.

That's it!  Nothing more.  You can throw in opinions about oil or power or land or most anything you want to.  But....preserving our freedom to Vote is why we fight any war!  America is about freedom - but there is no freedom without the vote.  Don't like a war....vote the guy out that started it.  Don't like some new tax - vote.  Don't want someone treading on your yard, vote for a new councilman.

Voting is the most powerful thing you can do.  If you go out tomorrow and vote, you will be part of history.  You will make a difference.

Tomorrow morning, Ron and I will pray for this country.  We will pray for healing and for God's blessing.  With every hurting American in mind, we will then walk into the voting booth and do what we can to make this country better.  We hope to see you there!

God loves you,

Debbie
