Helping Carrie Prejean - Miss California

I've set up a blog to accept "positive" comments for Carrie Prejean. She has received death threats and her family has been harassed. It's important for the Christian Community to let her know that we are praying for her and that she is a courageous person.

I have notified her publicist that the blog is there and that she can log on and read positive comments anytime she gets discouraged. Our goal is to have one million comments.

Please read the sidebar before you leave a comment. It will explain what we are looking for. If you want your comment to appear as a post, please send it to my e-mail account at debbie@debbiejansen.com.

Thank you for your help.

A picture of courage

For many months I've tried to encourage all of you to stand for your faith and your beliefs. I know that it's hard. I understand that many of you are scared. Most of us want to keep a low profile so we won't be attacked.

On April 19th, Carrie Prejean - Miss California - decided that she would risk her scores in the Miss USA pageant in favor of standing for her faith. I've read numerous articles and listened to several interviews. I've just listened to her pastor interview her and I am more impressed than ever. I also like what the Pastor had to say to his congregation.

After his interview his talk included 5 points.

1. Stare down courage. We should always be courageous in sharing our faith.

2. Trust in the truth, never the lie. How many times have I asked you not to believe the lies?

3. Accept God's Sovereign provision. Didn't I tell you earlier today that God will take care of us?

4. Never fear man over God. God is Almighty and he will ultimately win.

5. Die to Self. This one we haven't talked about, but it is an important part of being courageous.

I hope you enjoy this video. I hope you pray with the pastor in the end. I hope you will face the future with confidence and hope. I don't want to let Miss Prejean be the only one standing for God. I want to accept my destiny in being salt and light to this world. How about you?

Don't be Afraid

Did you know that there are over 211 references to the word "afraid" in the Bible? There are 5 references to the word "anxious" and 260 references to the word "fear".

Are you afraid? Do you worry about the future? Do you wonder if God is going to help you when times get hard?

Don't be Afraid!

When Jesus arrived at the last supper, he washed the disciples feet. In John 13 he told his disciples to wash each other's feet. In other words, take care of each other. Later in that chapter he identifies his betrayer, he gives his disciples a new commandment to "love one another and he predicts Peter's denial.

In one chapter he is both teaching his disciples to take care of each other and he is recognizing their faults.

That's a huge concept! So many times when we are hurting or afraid we convince ourselves that God will not rescue us because we have faults. "He won't help me, it's my fault this bankruptcy came about." "God's not going to help me, I should have never married an unsaved person." "I don't think God cares anymore because I'm such a bad person."

STOP relying on your works! God cares and God is able to rescue you. In John chapter 14 - right after he has acknowledged the faults of his disciples, Jesus gives this command in verse one.

"Let not your heart be trouble; you believe in God, believe also in Me."

After some discussion about where he was going and how they could follow him the disciples were afraid. They were worried that without him they wouldn't be able to survive. So Jesus spent six verses reminding them of his peace. In verse 27 Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Jesus knew the future. Jesus knew the angry cries of the people and that it would lead to his own death. Jesus knew that for a while the message of hope would be drenched in darkness. Jesus knew that all the demons of Hell would be rejoicing and would think that they had killed Christianity.

Sound familiar? Don't we hear the cries of ministers and right wing people that destruction is on our doorstep? Don't we listen to the news and the liberal bias against Christians and wonder if we will be persecuted like the Jews during WWII? The future does not look pretty and yet....we don't have the perspective that Jesus had.

I wonder if when his head was bowed low and he refused to answer Pilate if he was thinking, "I feel sorry for you. I know the future. Your accusations are false and they will be proven wrong."

I am praying for faith that will help me see the future that Jesus saw. What will life be like 5 years from now? My human nature tells me it will be dark and awful, but....faith tells me that God can and will move heaven and earth to protect his children! In that context, 5 years from now will find me loving God more and excited that He is my deliverer.

Am I ready financially to face this bleak economy? No. Is God ready to provide unseen answers for my finances - Absolutely!

Am I ready to fight the liberal media and the battle against Christianity? No. Is God able to change it with one swoop of His mighty Hand? Absolutely!

I don't know what you are facing today, but I am confident that you can survive if you stay close to God.

My mother wrote a very popular song. "I don't need to understand" has been recorded by several popular christian singers and it has gone international in publication. The chorus says:

I don't need to understand
I just need to hold his hand
I don't need to ever ask the reason why
For I know he'll make a way
Through the night and through the day
I don't need to understand
I just need to hold his hand.

I hope you enjoy listening to the entire song. Today I will pray for all of us that we will live by Jesus command.

"Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Debbie

New Direction

Whoa...one month without a post. That's a record. Let me explain how God is taking this ministry in a new direction.

Originally my blogs were designed to "teach" and "inspire" you to action. Some of them were entertaining and some were about personal news, but overall - I wanted to give my readers information that would help them achieve greater things in their lives.

It's hard to keep quiet when you see a train about to collide with friends walking down a track. My first instinct is to yell as loud as I can for everyone to get off the track. I can't help you if I'm not informed so I've been reading a lot of on line information about the present condition of this country and how that will help or hurt families. I listen intently to the news and try to be as informed as possible.

And.....I've been trying to pass that information along to you. I even wrote half of my blogs on 30 ways to improve America. But....something was missing. The more I wrote about the terrible things that are happening, the more I met discouraged and hopeless people.
I've been sick for over 10 days with a horrible flu. During that time it was often difficult to raise my head and watch TV. I listened to good music, read a little (when my eyes would focus) and thought of all of you.

What exactly do we need to find hope in this hopeless world?

Is God going to abandon us?

Do we have the tools to survive?

Is it possible for Ron to lose his job and God save our house?

Can young people grow up in a loving family and reject the sinful enticements they will encounter?

There is so much wrong with this world, but perhaps - I'm too busy pointing out the problems and not concentrating on the solutions. I thought about my 30 days to a better America. Most of what I wrote was to point out that the Christian philosophy was a good one and if we tried to live that life, America would ultimately be better. It's always nice to have our ideals affirmed, but what about the steps we need to take - just to survive? I wasn't giving any tips on how to keep the family together if you face bankruptcy. I hadn't mentioned anything about how to trust God when your daughter is being stalked.

So.....I believe that God is leading me to a new direction with my blogs. When I see a problem within society, I'll provide a link for you to read about that problem - if you have time. My focus will be to help you survive.

You can survive. God has promised that we will survive. History proves that the Christian lifestyle is the only thing that does survive. Romans tried to kill off Christianity and it didn't work. Hitler tried to eradicate the Jews and it didn't work. You can't destroy us. We are protected by God's Almighty hand.

Before you yell at me.....I understand that some of us may have to suffer. Some of us may have to endure persecution. Some of us may not get to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle.

But....if we stay close to Jesus, we will always be in the center of God's loving hands. Do you know what happened to every suffering Christian that was persecuted by the Romans? They went to Heaven. And what happened to every true Christian since then??? They have their place in Heaven. It's a win - win situation.

I do understand though that it can be a scary situation and that's going to be the focus of this blog.

Don't be Afraid. With God, all things are possible.

When you are tired and worried, come here for inspiration.

When you think you can't go any farther, come here for a bit of encouragement.

When you need facts about how to make your money go a little farther or how to keep the family together when everyone is discouraged....visit my blogs. Together we will find a way to survive and find contentment during adversity.

I am praying for all of you. I believe that we are the greatest force this country has. I am confident that with God on our side, we will be the salt and light that everyone needs. With God on our side we will survive and find success.

God loves you,

Debbie
