Christian Parenting

My heart is heavy today. I've been talking with someone who only wants to gain my approval and they are not really concerned about what is best for their child. There are specific social and parenting rules that if broken - you will hurt your child. Sorry! That's the way it is.

It seems that more and more parents are only concerned with doing what is good for them and they are not willing to sacrifice for the well being of their child. God help us when all these hurt children take over our world. One of the biggest problems of today is that too many hurt people are in control.

I'm putting together more material for the website as well as other blogs so you can participate in discussing specific details. I will cover more details about this subject at that time. Unfortunately, putting it all together is taking more time than I thought it would. For now, I would just like to leave you with some scripture to mull over. Think about how it applies to you and your Christian life.

Mark 9:42-50 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck."

Jesus had just finished talking about people who were casting out demons in his name but were not disciples. But if you couple that scripture with other scriptures about children, you come up with a very specific directive.

Prov. 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Matt. 19:14 "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Prov. 17:21 "He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy."

Prov. 23:24 "The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him."

Eph. 6:4 "Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

Col. 3:21 "Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged."

We are responsible for training our children and leading them to Christ.

We are responsible for making sure that they have good lives and that living in our households will naturally cause them to be mature Christians.

We are responsible for being an example to our children.

We have definite responsibilities as parents and if we simply shrug those off or make light of them or even pass them off to other people - we are guilty of causing one of these little ones to sin!

Take your responsibilities seriously.

Don't be overcome with guilt - leave the past behind you and just get busy making the future the best you can.

Get busy making your home a Godly home.

I've said it a hundred times ----
A child will see the face of God FIRST in their parents face.
Does your child see God in your face?

God loves you,

Debbie
